Cleveland, OH- Forest City Bank $1 18__ G4a Wolka 0732-03 Proof PMG Choice Uncirculated 63.
The Forest City Bank opened as a Free Bank in 1851 and continued on as a bank without issue sometime past the end of the Civil War. This $1 has a spectacular full width vignette depicting a farm family and a sheep shearing scene flanking an oval male portrait with a large red lazy 1 protector below. It is printed on India paper with the usual small POCs in the signature lines. This was one of the more numerous proofs available in the 1990 ABNCo Archives sale from Ohio and we currently count about ten surviving examples. Minor repairs are noticed.
