Cleaveland, OH- The Commercial Bank of Lake Erie $1-$2-$20-Post Note May 14, 1817 Wolka-Unlisted Uncut Remainder Sheet
A unique sheet from the shop of Abner Reed in East Windsor, CT. This sheet was apparently used to test the printing set up and plate for an order. As a side note, for the time period, "Cleaveland" is the correct spelling for the city. Each note is signed "JWBarber" on the left margin, dated "May 17, 1817" on the President signature line, and datelined "East Windsor" on the Cashier signature line. John Warner Barber served as an apprentice with Reed until 1819 and went on to become a noted landscape engraver in his own right. PCGS grades this historic sheet Apparent Extremely Fine 45 due to minor paper toning and small edge splits and tears.
