    The bank, located at the corner of East Third and Main Streets, was chartered in 1838 and voluntarily wound up its affairs in 1844. It then became the Mechanics and Traders Branch of the State Bank of Ohio in 1845. The branch suspended on November 20, 1854, and was immediately taken over and wound up by the State Bank of Ohio. This lot comprises:
    Two $1s, one of which is stamped that it is exchangeable at the Merchants Bank of Jackson County (MI). Both depict the bank's building in Cincinnati and grade Very Good;
    One $2, depicting a Phoenix and grading Good-Very Good with a couple of small body holes and edge roughness;
    Two $3s, both stamped as exchangeable in Michigan (crossed out), with one also having a Louisville, KY broker stamp. Both grade Good-Very Good with slightly tattered edges;
    One $5 with an engraved red back that grades Very Good-Fine with a small body hole and edge divot with a 1" tear running from it. There are only two examples of this type presently known;
    Three $10s, one with an engraved red back in Fine and two new uniface varieties (one stamped exchangeable in Michigan and one not) which are represented by two examples and one example respectively. These latter two notes grade Very Good.
