    The Commercial Bank was originally chartered in 1829 and opened in 1831. It continued under this charter until 1843. In 1845, it became one of Ohio's Independent Banks and continued in business until it became the Commercial National Bank of Cincinnati (Charter 1185) in 1865. The bank's bond for the redemption of its state notes was only $1,550 when it was returned to the bank in 1875. The uniface $3s, unknown to Haxby, feature portraits of Governors Edward Tiffin (1803-1807) and Jeremiah Morrow (1822-1826). The two examples grade Very Good with some minor paper thins and a small body hole and Fine. The $5 is altered from a $5 originally issued by the Commercial Bank of Millington, MD and grades Fine.
