    The Bank of Cincinnati had a checkered career, opening in 1814 and finally getting around to obtaining a charter two years later. It failed in 1819, reopened in 1820, and failed again in 1821. The firm went dormant until 1837 when it was again revived. In 1842, the bank finally died and stayed dead. Its premises were entered during the Cincinnati Bank Riot of January 1842 and looted. These two notes are from the bank's happier days. The Fractional note grades About Uncirculated while the $1 grades a problem-free Very Good-Fine. Only two examples of the Fractional note are known in private hands.
