Cincinnati, OH- Mechanics and Traders Bank $10 Dec. 2, 1839 G10 Wolka 0551-09
An ornate issue from the bank that closed in 1844. Featured vignettes include a winged cherub on the left, a classic vignette of "Commerce and Mercury", and a maiden standing on the right. An unusual feature for the day was an intaglio engraved red back design that stated that its purpose was to "prevent forgery." Although the edges are just a bit ragged, the note grades a solid Fine.
