    Canton, OH- The Farmers Bank of Canton $2 Remainder; Spurious $2; Spurious $5 1836-39 UNL; N5; S10 Wolka 0278-08; -11; -25
The bank opened for business in 1815, finally received a charter in 1818, and failed in 1821. It was revived in 1828 and survived until January 10, 1842 when its financial house of cards collapsed for the final time. This lot comprises a genuine $2 unknown to Haxby as well as two spurious notes (as if the bank did not have enough other troubles). The genuine note, printed by Draper, Underwood, Bald & Spencer grades Fine-Very Fine and appears to be a remainder. The spurious $2 grades Very Good-Fine with a small chunk out of the bottom right margin, and the spurious $5 grades Fine-Very Fine. Both $2s are represented by only one example each in private hands.
From The Wendell Wolka Collection (Total: 3 notes)

    Estimate: $600 - $800.
