Akron, OH- The State Bank of Ohio, Akron Branch Counterfeit $5; Counterfeit $10 1846-50? C14; C18 Wolka 0029-12; -15
Notes from the Akron Branch of the State Bank of Ohio are difficult to come by as the branch was only in business from 1845 until failing in 1854. Most genuine notes were sent in for redemption as the State Bank of Ohio stood behind this branch's circulation. As a result, most of what is left to collectors today is "bad" in one way or another and even then not plentiful. The counterfeit $5 is betrayed by a wretched portrait of Franklin and grades a clean Very Good-Fine. At present, there are only two examples known, with one in the holdings of the Western Reserve Historical Society. The $10 is in About Good condition with chunks of both ends missing. However, it is the sole example presently known to exist. As such, it will make an excellent place holder in even an advanced collection until another example appears.
From The Wendell Wolka Collection (Total: 2 notes)

    Estimate: $350 - $450.
