    Description

Albany, NY - Commercial Bank of Albany $3 18__ as G12 Proof PCGS Very Choice New 64 Apparent.
The bank was organized in 1825 and remained in business until 1865 when it became the National Commercial Bank of Albany. The note features an allegorical vignette of Commerce or perhaps Navigation flanked by vignettes of a young boy holding on to a ram and a milkmaid. The note is printed on India paper mounted on cardstock without any POCs or other cancellations. PCGS mentions minor rust stains that are confined to a few scattered specks. A faint second ghost image of this $3 appears on the back. This design was not represented in the 1990 ABNCo Archives sale.
