Uncancelled and Rare Iron Bank Deuce

    Morristown, NJ - Iron Bank $2 March 29, 1860 NJ-480 G38a SENC, Wait 1203 Fine.
A fully issued note from the later Morristown location for the bank. Uncancelled and rather rare as such. The title originated in Rockaway in 1855 but moved in 1858 to this second location in Morristown. It eventually became a National Bank and most notes were redeemed which explains some of the type observed with large hole cancels. This is a pleasing exception. Top center with iron foundry scene. The lower left sea nymph vignette is a rare one. Red protector outlined with TWO. Only a small edge tear at the right end. The note exhibits excellent paper body. We offered three cancelled notes last year and they met spirited bidding. A color tinted $1 note realized $1,680 in our CSNS sale. An excellent opportunity for an uncancelled bill boasting excellent eye appeal.
