Cape May Court House, NJ- American Exchange Bank $5 Jan. 1, 1852 as G8 Wait UNL PMG Choice Uncirculated 63.
Little is known of this bank that was reportedly in business from 1851-53 before failing. The notes, which have the state banking die, indicate that it operated as a Free Bank. The $5 design also has an unidentified male portrait and a large detailed vignette of a man-of-war in harbor. The note is printed on India paper mounted on cardstock with the usual POCs in the signature lines. There were nine examples of this design in the 1990 ABNCo Archives sale.

    Estimate: $300 - $400.
