Milford, NH- Souhegan Bank $2 Jan. 1, 1856 G4a PMG Very Fine 20.
The Souhegan Bank was in operation from 1856 until 1864 when it became the Souhegan National Bank of Milford (Charter 1070). We have offered several different notes on this bank previously, but this is the first $2 with a red protector that we have offered. The bank officials wanted to be certain that this note was cancelled; there are 22 POCs primarily in the signature spaces but with a few put in the vignettes for good measure.
