    Description

Reno, NV- Reno Savings Bank $20 18__ Specimen Crisp Uncirculated.
The bank was organized in 1876 and failed in 1880 amid allegations that the bank manager had embezzled funds (although this case was ultimately dismissed). This $20 Certificate of Deposit was payable to either the depositor or bearer and is as close as one can come to a true Obsolete note from this state. The portrait is presumed to be of someone's daughter or granddaughter. The certificate has one attempted POC in the signature line, is roulette cancelled WBNCo., and is additionally date stamped April 23, 1896 some sixteen years after the bank's demise. A rare opportunity to collect something special from this state.
