Omaha City, NE- Brownville Bank and Land Co. $5 Sept. 1, 1857 G4c PMG Superb Gem Unc 68 EPQ.
Radar serial number 3113. Green tint. A fraudulent bank that never applied for a state charter and also did not have a building or office in Omaha City. No surprise there, however, they did have beautiful notes printed that gave the impression that they were legitimate. In reality, it was one big swindle by out of state sharpers. The example in this lot is the highest graded note on this issuer without exception that we have auctioned. The previous highest grade that we have offered on this institution was a brown tint PCGS 67PPQ G4a that realized $1,292.50 in January 2015. Fully issued and a great obsolete.
