    Description

De Soto, NE (Terr.)- Western Land & Exchange Co. $2 Dec. 1, 1857 G4 Walton UNL Proof PMG Choice Uncirculated 63.
The $2 design features a great agricultural vignette entitled "Finding the Red Ear" flanked by an oval portrait of Andrew Jackson and a vignette of an eagle on a federal shield. The note is printed on India paper without any POCs or other means of cancellation present. PMG notes that this example was previously mounted as evidenced by four stamp hinge remnants on the back. There was a single $1-$2 uncut sheet hidden away in the Connecticut section of the 1990 ABNCo Archives sale. We believe that this $2 was part of that sheet and likely is unique.
