St. Joseph, MO- Western Bank of Missouri at Glasgow Branch $1 July 1, 1861 G38a PCGS Very Good 8.
An exceptionally rare note payable at this bank's branch in Glasgow. The center vignette, depicting black men doing some type of agricultural processing, is believed to be unique to this note which is listed as SENC in Haxby; we only know of one other. PCGS notes some edge splits and tears common to the grade along with the fact that it has been severed and reattached. While this note is not as pretty as some, the fact is it is flat out rare. If or when you find a nicer example, this note's excessive rarity will make it easy for someone else to adopt it.
