    Description

St. Paul, MN - The Dayton Bank $1 185_ Remainder
Lyman Dayton was a wealthy real estate speculator who tried to start a bank during the course of 1856-57. He met with little success and the bank was listed as "worthless" as early as 1859. Few, if any notes, made it to circulation with only proofs and remainders known today. The $1 note features a portrait of Mr. Dayton and is graded PMG Choice About Uncirculated 58 EPQ. Some petty handling at the corners keeps this note from a near gem grade.
