The bank was the first in the state to back its notes with United States securities when it opened in the summer of 1862. It relinquished its state charter in 1865 and became the First National Bank of Saint Paul in February of that year. This extremely attractive green and black note is a remainder with false signatures (Mr. Pillsbury, no less). PCGS grades it Apparent Extremely Fine 45 with the apparent designation being applied due to the falsified signatures.
