Hokah, MN- The La Crosse and La Crescent Bank $1 Jan. 1, 1859 G2a Hewitt B200 D1-1b
Organized by Wisconsin interests, this bank maintained no actual office in the state and redeemed its issues in neighboring Wisconsin. It however met its obligations, leaving a mere $2,440 in unredeemed notes in 1868. PCGS grades the note Apparent Very Good 10 with a repaired tear at the upper right and small edge and internals splits and tears noted. For a well circulated note, this all comes with the territory. The note is fully intact and faces up well. Note that the holder incorrectly identifies the variety as D1-2b rather than D1-1b (Regr. engraved at left; not Audr.).
