The bank was open from 1836 to 1846; an eternity by Michigan standards. The bank also employed a classic redemption dodge by having notes made payable at the Bank of Central New York in Utica, nearly 500 miles away. These notes grade Good-VG and better. Ten notes are in this grade, with a number having damage and / or repairs. The $3 and three Utica $5s grade a bit better at Fine-VF.
