    Description

    Grand Rapids, (MI)- J.W. Peirce 25¢ Feb. 16, 1838
A rare issuer that we have offered only a few times over the years split amongst Peirce's two issues from the Panics of 1837-38 and 1857. This 1838 issue is payable to one, "Stevens T. Mason." He was the first and youngest governor of the state. Mason served in that capacity from 1835-40. Very Good-Fine with snappy paper and sound edges and paper.
