East Saginaw, MI- Saginaw Valley Bank $5 1865 UNL Lee EAS 4-1
This is only the second note and the first $5 that we have offered on this rare bank. This piece is actually a certificate of deposit disguised as a circulating note. The Saginaw Valley Bank must have issued only certificates of deposit as it is not listed in Haxby. Also, this bank was not organized until 1866 according to Lee. Therefore, the "1865" date is suspicious and the officers do not match up with the men listed in the Lee opus. Very Good with edge wear including pieces missing and a vintage repair on the face.
