    Eagle River, MI- Bay State Mining Company $5 ; $10 Oct. 27, 1866
    This lot contains two notes from the Bay State Mining Company payable to L. Streeter. This Upper Peninsula mining concern was incorporated on May 16, 1853 and had its scrip payable in Boston through Luther W. Clarke. Bay State was sold to the Phoenix Copper Co. in 1868. The $5 note was endorsed. The back was rubber stamped and reads in part "Cleveland." The back also contains a few notations in pencil. The $10 was also endorsed and was rubber stamped "FIRST NATIONAL BANK PAID DETROIT, MICH." within a shield. There are a few notations in ink on the back and there is a burn mark. Fine-Very Fine.
