Adrian, MI- Erie and Kalamazoo Rail Road Bank $5 Aug. 1, 1853
The bank was chartered on Mar. 26, 1835 and closed in 1839. It was revived in 1853, but failed the following year. This $5 was part of the bank's second incarnation. There were a number of varieties of the $5 notes, with this example having the red "V" overprints. A vignette of Ceres is seen at upper left while Commerce is depicted at upper right. Franklin Pierce's portrait is seen at center. Very Good with a number of problems observed. There will be no returns on this lot for any reason.
