    Shelburne Falls, MA - Shelburne Falls Bank $1 July 5, 1861 MA-1140 G2a. PCGS Apparent Fine 12.
Custom vignettes relevant to the location were often engraved by the New England Bank Note Company. The scenic cascade and environs are shown in the wide top vignette, and a farmwoman churning butter is at the lower right. PCGS notes "Minor Rust Stains" and "Small Edge Splits," both of which are present but trivial in impact. This has the typical close New England trim, but the vignette is sharply defined. The first genuine note from the bank we have cataloged, and the only one we have ever offered.
