    Very Rare Terry, Pelton Proof

Salem, MA - Naumkeag Bank $1 18__ MA-1125 G8 SENC. Proof. PCGS Extremely Fine 45 Apparent.
The firm of Terry, Pelton & Co. Boston & Providence is responsible for this lovely Proof. The rarer imprint has many vignettes that were custom orders for their banking clients, but this does not appear to be one of them. At the top is a wide coastal view with a variety of ships in the harbor. A city is seen on the opposite bank at the base of high hills, thus it does not reflect Salem's appearance. Both end panels have ONE above and below a central vignette. At left, seated Hebe holds an eagle in her left arm and an olive branch in her right. "State of Massachusetts" is arced above her. At right, a passenger train travels along. A gray ONE protector is across. Although hole punch canceled and noted with "Stains; Small Edge Tears," a striking Proof.

Truth Seeker: The Life of Eric P. Newman (softcover)
A powerful and intimidating dealer of the 1960s, backed by important colleagues, was accused of selling fraudulent gold coins and ingots to unsuspecting numismatists. Who would go up against a man like that and, over the course of decades, prove the fraud? Who would expose a widely respected scholar as a thief, then doggedly pursue recovery of coins that the scholar had stolen from an embarrassed numismatic organization, all over the objections of influential collectors who had bought coins with clouded titles? Eric P. Newman would - and did. Reserve your copy today.
