    Description

New Bedford, MA- Bedford Commercial Bank $10 18__ G28 Proof PMG Choice Uncirculated 63.
Previously known as the Bedford Bank, the bank was reorganized and chartered in 1816. It remained in business until 1864 when it became the National Bank of Commerce of New Bedford in early 1865. The note has a typical early design with a simple vignette of an allegorical maiden representing, perhaps, Commerce. Elaborate end panels contain the denomination and state of issue. The note is printed on India paper without any POCs or other means of cancellation present. Not represented in the 1990 ABNCo Archives sale, this design has an estimated surviving proof population of three to four examples.

    Estimate: $300 - $400.
