    Lynn, MA- Lynn Mechanics Bank $1 May 1, 1854 G44
    The first of six notes from this bank which were consigned by a Boston area dealer. All are rare, unknown or unique, and all bear either punch or stamp cancels of various dates between 1870 and 1872, which is when each of the notes were redeemed by the First National Bank of Lynn, the title this institution took when it adopted a charter as a National Bank in December of 1864. This piece, which is listed as SENC in Haxby, bears numerous stamp cancels dated April 27, 1870 along with the written notation "charged to profit & loss April 27th, 1870" on the reverse.
