Boston, MA- Webster Bank $1 July 4, 1864 G2a PMG Choice Fine 15.
The Webster Bank was open from 1853 until 1865 when it became the National Webster Bank of Boston (Charter 1527). Not surprisingly, this $1 issued by the Webster Bank features an oversize oval portrait of the bank's namesake, Daniel Webster. A seldom used vignette of the Bunker Hill Monument. The monument is actually located on Breeds Hill, where most of the actual Revolutionary War fighting took place. Daniel Webster gave the oration at the monument's dedication on June 17, 1843. This note is in pleasant evenly circulated condition in a comment free holder. We have offered this exact note twice in the last sixteen years, and are aware of only one other note (without the ABNCo monogram) being publicly offered in that same time period.
