    Description

    Possibly Unique Wye Landing Obsolete

Wye Landing, MD- John H. Holt 6 1/4¢ Oct. 28, 1839 PMG Very Fine 30.
A steamer vignette is seen at center with a circular denomination counter at right. Printed by Murphy, Printers, 146 Market Street, Baltimore, this note was signed by John H. Holt. The obligation is overwritten as Payable in Current Bank Notes, when the sum of Five Dollars is presented at My Office or Wye Landing. As we cannot find any record of another example anywhere, we believe this note to be unique. If that wasn't enough, it is housed in a problem free PMG Very Fine 30 holder. Maryland is one of the states that has a bevy of serious, well-heeled collectors who pounce on great notes from the state.
