New Midway, MD- Rose Jelly Co. $10 Advertising Note ND Vlack 1505
Dating from probably the 1870s, this colorful ad note touts the benefits of Rose Jelly, which came in "beautiful decorated boxes" for 10¢, 25¢, or 40¢ per box. If one can believe the claims on the back, it cured everything from deafness to ingrown toe nails. There is no mention of the company founder, Francis Calvin Renner (1840-1914), on this ad note unlike all of the other known varieties of Rose Jelly notes. Lithographer was the American Label Co. of Baltimore. This firm was in business from 1891-1916. This leads to speculation that this number was printed after Renner's death during the years of 1914-16. Uncirculated.
