    Description

Marion, AL- Selma, Marion & Memphis Railroad Co. $10 Mar. 1, 1871 Remainder
An always-popular issue with several slavery-related vignettes. It bears the engraved signature of N.B. Forrest as president. Although Nathan Bedford Forrest (1821-77) had no formal military training, he served with distinction in the Confederate calvary during the Civil War. Historians may also be aware that he served as the first Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan. This nice example of a better denomination is unlisted in Rosene. PMG Choice Extremely Fine 45.
