    Description

Belfast, ME- Waldo Bank Counterfeit $5 Oct. 1, 1832 Wait 42 PMG Very Fine 30.
The Waldo Bank was chartered in 1832 and remained in business until the bank voluntarily liquidated in 1837, honoring all of its commitments. The bank's short existence did not spare it from counterfeiting efforts as this $5 note shows. One source estimates the population of surviving counterfeits of this design at around 10-15 notes. As a bonus, this note has two significant butterfly fold printing errors and a bit of staining.
