    Waterloo, LA- Z. Demoruelle $1 April, 1862
Just another exceptionally rare piece of Louisiana scrip in an offering which is exceptional as well. Waterloo was a once thriving town in Pointe Coupee Parish which was a center for the export of cotton and sugar cane. A flood in 1884 devastated the community, and arsonists in the 1890s removed all hope of the community's recovery, with most of the population moving to nearby New Roads, the parish seat. The town no longer exists, leaving this one scrip item as a monument to what once was. PMG Very Good 10 Net, with some stains that affect little on a note with this degree of rarity.
