    Shreveport, LA- R.W. Rodgers $2 July 7, 1862 Remainder
    Rodgers, a Missouri native, was a Confederate colonel at the outbreak of the war. The Trans-Mississippi Department was in need of salt, to preserve meat and for other purposes, and Rodgers was ordered to Jordan's Saline, now known as Grand Saline, in Van Zandt County to re-open the salt works. The operation was successful, and Rodgers remained there until the end of the war. Payable in Jordan's Saline, TX, but datelined Shreveport, this $2 has a bright blue back depicting a steamboat. It grades About Uncirculated with faint signs of handling.
