    Description

Shreveport, LA- Citizens' Bank of Louisiana $50
The portrait at lower right on this remainder is of Edmond J. Forstall (1794-1872) as identified by Roger Durand. Likely he is pictured on this note because he helped the bank to the tune of one million dollars by successfully negotiating the sale of bonds issued by the state in favor of the bank. Forstall was also a corporal in the Battalion d'Orleans during the Battle of New Orleans. PMG Superb Gem Unc 67 EPQ.
