    Description

New Orleans, LA- Red River Packet Co. $2 Dec. 1, 1861
The wonderful steamboat vignette on this note is signed "CHILDS" and was undoubtedly done by John V. Childs, a New Orleans engraver and printer who also did work on Arkansas Treasury Warrants and the famous New Orleans Postmaster provisional postage stamps in June 1861. PCGS grades this note Extremely Fine 40 and this note certainly merits the grade. This is a note that would fit nicely into any Louisiana, steamboat vignette, or southern collection. This is the first time that we have offered this denomination from this issuer.
