    Description

    New Orleans, LA- Patterson Iron Works / Jackson & Co. 50¢(2); $1; $2(2); $5
Patterson Iron Works and Jackson & Co. both participated in the construction of the CSS Mississippi, a triple screw ironclad designed to defend the lower Mississippi River from Union naval forces. She was launched only partially finished and was ultimately burned to keep her from falling into enemy hands during the fall of New Orleans in April 1862. These six notes grade Good-Very Good and better, with each having the usual array of small blemishes associated with notes in this state of preservation. The $5 has a small body hole and missing corner tip. (Total: 6 notes)
