    New Orleans, LA- Patterson Iron Works / Jackson & Co. $2 Mar. 20, 1862
    Both companies named on this note (Jackson & Co. being the other) were involved in the construction of the CSS Mississippi, a Confederate ironclad designed to protect the lower Mississippi River. The uncompleted ship was hurriedly launched on April 19, 1862 with the approach of Union naval forces and destroyed to avoid capture by the enemy on April 25, 1862. This note grades Very Good-Fine, with a number of stamp hinges and mounting residue spots on the back as well as a couple small body holes.
