New Orleans, LA- City of New Orleans $2 (2); $3 1862-68
The city had a history of periodically issuing notes to cover city needs both before and after the Civil War. The two $2 notes are from an issue of October 24, 1862 whose purpose was to redeem an earlier 1862 issue which had been used to redeem the city's merchant issues that had been prevalent before the city's fall to a Union naval force at the end of April, 1862. The two notes grade Very Good-Fine. The $3 is from a later 1868 issue and grades Very Fine-Extremely Fine with one small trace of stamp hinge adhesive on the back.
    (Total: 3 notes)
