    Haxby Plate Note

New Orleans, LA- Bank of Louisiana $1,000 June 14, 1862 G32a PCGS Very Fine 30.
A very rare note from a relatively common bank, this $1,000 has a great nautical vignette and large blue 1000 protector on the face that complements the ornate orange back. It is one of the few opportunities to acquire an issued $1,000 from the Crescent City. This note was issued in the wake of the fall of New Orleans in late April, 1862. Federal occupation authorities insisted that the city's banks stop paying out Confederate notes and this resulted in increased use of their own notes in commerce.
