New Orleans, LA- New Orleans, Jackson, & Great Northern Rail Road Company $2 Nov. 16, 1861 Fine.
Jean Jacques Mistrot (1822-1900) was born in France and arrived in New Iberia in 1840. Mistrot owned a general store and a saw mill. He financed and managed blockade running during the Civil War and served as a member of the local militia. Reconstruction was difficult for many, including Mistrot, and he moved his family to Bryan, Texas in 1879. This example possesses several small internal splits plus a considerable amount of edge wear that includes an approximate half inch left edge tear. (Total: 2 notes)
