    Description

Canton, MS- New Orleans, Jackson & Great Northern Rail Road Company $1.50 July 1, 1862
Using a version of the train vignette appearing on Type 15 CSA Treasury Notes, this $1.50 note was issued from Canton, MS after the railroad was apparently driven out of New Orleans when that city fell at the end of April 1862. The road, in fact, served as the main means of evacuating Confederate troops and supplies from the city. This note grades Uncirculated.
