    Description

    Baton Rouge, LA- The City of Baton Rouge 10¢ June 18, 1862
    The city was abandoned by the state government in late April, 1862 and was occupied by Union forces on May 29, 1862. The Confederates attempted to recapture the city on August 5, 1862 but were repulsed. Union forces also withdrew but returned the following autumn. This note was issued while the city was occupied. The note grades Very Fine with two stamp hinge remnants on the back.
