    Description

(Edgard), LA- Parish of St. John the Baptist $3 Mar. 24, 1862 Extremely Fine-About Uncirculated.
Printed on the back of bond coupons from a Second Municipality (New Orleans) bond ca. 1838, this $3 sports a large red THREE protector and is printed on bright paper with delicate, but strongly penned handwritten information. P.G.T. Beauregard graces these parish notes that were issued a month before the fall of New Orleans in late April, 1862. Incredible quality for this desirable type. An as-made thin gutter runs to the immediate left of the portrait.
