Louisville, KY- Bank of Kentucky $5 18__ G20 Hughes 493 Proof PMG Uncirculated 62.
The bank opened in 1834 and continued in operation, ultimately with thirteen branches, until 1866. This $5, with portraits of Clay and General Isaac Shelby, Kentucky's first governor, flanking a hunting scene vignette, is printed on India paper mounted on cardstock that has a ghost image of a $10 note on the bank (Haxby G24). PMG mentions a missing corner tip. One of eight examples that were part of the 1990 ABNCo Archives sale (Lots 502-503).
