    Description

Frankfort, KY- Farmers Bank of Kentucky $100 18__ G214 Hughes 265 Proof PMG Choice Uncirculated 64.
The bank was chartered in 1850 and ultimately had seven branches. It remained in business until after the Civil War, with several branches converting to national banks. Unlike the commonly seen lower denominations, the $100 is seldom seen and much scarcer. Portraits of Mr. and Mrs. John J. Crittenden flank an allegorical vignette of Agriculture, Commerce, and Justice. The note is printed on India paper with the usual small POCs. Surprisingly this bank was not represented in the 1990 ABNCo Archives sale.
From the Charles R. Pease, Jr. Collection, Part II

    Estimate: $500 - $600.
