    Description

Dubuque, IA - The Dubuque Central Improvement Company $3 Feb. 1, 1858
This $3 post note is the variety with the stockholder's names on the back in blue ink. It was signed by President F.V. Goodrich, Secretary Rob't M. Walmsley, and countersigned by Treasurer H.A. Littleton. The company was organized in January 1857 with the intent of building a levee across the two islands they owned and have the levee extend to the edge of the Mississippi River. The notes were to bear 10% interest, but the company failed in 1858. Very Fine.
