    Description

Anamosa, IA- Wapsipinicon Land Co. $1 Mar. 4, 1858 Oakes 3-1
The concern was involved in banking and land speculation beginning in the 1850s. Given that the president, William Shaw, was later elected to the state legislature it is a pretty good bet that no major losses resulted from this company's dealings. The center vignette depicts a tradition that whoever found the first red ear during a husking bee had the right to receive a kiss from the first person that he or she could catch.
