    Description

Iola, FL- Planters & Mechanics Bank of Columbus, Geo. 25¢ Special Proof
Iola was a short-lived community that boomed for a brief moment after its founding in 1837 but became commercially insignificant by 1841. Backed by Columbus, Georgia financial interests, this note was one of several briefly issued by various Columbus based banks. All are quite rare, with this the first we have handled. It is an ABNCo archives "Special Proof," printed on card stock and graded as Very Choice New 64PPQ by PCGS.
